I'm exhausted from an all-nighter which involved Shakespeare and Jesus (bad combo, just FYI-- you end up arguing in circles or sounding like an idiot televangelist-- although I'm sure I know a few people who could do it intelligently, I cannot!) and I apologize for the sporadic (ie nonexistent) posting on here. Instead of pulling together a decent, well-written specimen for you today, I'm just going to put up some ____'s of the day:
POEM (OF ME IN 50 YEARS) OF THE DAY
[Via Gala Darling]WarningWhen I am an old woman I shall wear purple
by Jenny Joseph
With a red hat which doesn’t go, and doesn’t suit me.
And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves
And satin sandals, and say we’ve no money for butter.
I shall sit down on the pavement when I’m tired
And gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells
And run my stick along the public railings
And make up for the sobriety of my youth.
I shall go out in my slippers in the rain
And pick flowers in other people’s gardens
And learn to spit.
You can wear terrible shirts and grow more fat
And eat three pounds of sausages at a go
Or only bread and pickle for a week
And hoard pens and pencils and beermats and things in boxes.
But now we must have clothes
that keep us dry
And pay our rent and not swear in the street
And set a good example for the children.
We must have friends to dinner and read the papers.
But maybe I ought to practice a little now?
So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised
When suddenly I am old, and start to wear purple.
DELICIOUS OBJECT OF THE DAY

Sam Wong's apple galette-- she made this herself! Check out her food blog at Portfolio of Patisserie if you get the chance: you won't be disappointed, because not only does she have fantastic culinary skills, but she also pairs it with impeccable artistry to make cute touches like the gingham bow. Her eye for detail is really makes her desserts stand out, and did I mention that she's amazing amazing amazing at baking?
MULTIPLE CATS IN ONE PICTURE OF THE DAY

Mike and I can identify only 14 of these 25 famous cats... can someone please let me know what the green one with a red helmet on the right side is?!

AMAZING SAND ARTISTRY VIDEO OF THE DAY
This girl's fingers are fascinating to watch-- she moves so effortlessly from one scene to another, and is timed perfectly to the music. I imagine myself getting sand in my eyes if I were asked to work that quickly...
From the Youtube info:
Kseniya Simonova is a Ukrainian artist who just won Ukraine's version of "America's Got Talent." She uses a giant light box, dramatic music, imagination and "sand painting" skills to interpret Germany's invasion and occupation of Ukraine during WWII.
UNNECESSARY BUT WONDERFUL FRIVOLITY OF THE DAY
I wish I could own a toilet scrubber as lovely as this:

...and I can't believe I just used "toilet scrubber" and "lovely" in the same sentence.
[From Modcloth]
On that note, have a lovely day with your toilet scrubbers, everyone! (Twice in post! I really must be delirious.)
